Clean Air Program

Program benefits:

Those displaying a valid Clean Air Permit have the following benefits in San Jose:
  • side-view-300x224 2Park free at all City of San Jose parking meters, but be sure to adhere to the posted time restrictions.
  • Park free at participating ParkSJ garages: Fourth Street, Third Street, Second & San Carlos and Market & San Pedro.
  • Park free at City of San Jose Parks and Recreation facilities

Eligibility:

  • Your vehicle must be registered in San Jose or purchased from a licensed dealership in San Jose.
  • Your vehicle must be eligible for the California Air Resources Board Green or White State of California Carpool lane sticker. A list of carpool sticker eligible vehicles can be found at http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/carpool/carpool.htm.
  • Neighborhood Electric Vehicles (NEV) are also eligible.

To join the program:

1. You should receive an application for the program from the dealer when you buy your car. If not, download it here.

2. Complete the application, including the following:

  • Copy of the bill of sale
  • Copy of DMV Registration
  • $30 administrative fee, with check made out to “City of San Jose DOT”

3. Mail the application to the City of San Jose Department of Transportation 200 E. Santa Clara St., CA 95113. Or apply in person at City Hall, 200 E. Santa Clara St., 8th Floor, front desk.

Notes:
  • This program will continue at least until June 30, 2018.
  • Electric charging stations are available at the following garages:  Convention Center, Second and San Carlos, Market Street, Third Street, Fourth Street, City Hall and Fourth/St. John.  The cost is $1.25 per session and $0.25 per kWh during the day, and $1.25 per session and $0.20 per kWh overnight (9:30 p.m. – 8:30 a.m.) Click chargepoint.com for more information.
